Day 7. Knighton to Kington 22K

Last night we stayed in Whytcwm cottage with the amazing caftan wearing philosopher Penny. A truly unique experience, her little cottage is like a museum,  books pulled from floor to ceiling in every room. Computer works of TS Eliot and George Bernard Shaw, penny eas a retired surveyor who went on to teach politics and philosophy at a university, then ran a B&b for 13 years, she’s ready to take it easy now and will be moving to a retirement community.

That her little cottage in the center looking back as we started our walk. Today there were a lot of firsts.... the first cloudy day with no sun, the first time with walkers going in the same direction as us and staying in the same B&b. I guessed that they were from
Israel, correctly. One of them has done for uk walk including the penine way.
The first for my sister and I to walk to get her for such a long stretch. It took us about  7 hours of walking. The last 2 hours were tough and our feet ache.
We are staying in a beautiful Tudor cottage tonight, all Cody and comfy. We think it was about 10 stiles and 8 kissing gates. We got soaked early in the day from few and walking in tall grass. Oh and we did see 3 little English robins and a several meadow pipits, Deb I think you’d be proud.

Some pics of the day.

Rose outside Penny’s cottage.

The clouds were low today.

This is lovely terrain to walk on.

The actual dyke with big trees.

For a while we were worried that the path was going to go up that hill and creat, it actually did go up to the crest but in a round about way.

Barbie missed this mushroom.

But spotted these chicken and hens.

Are we there yet?

Another stile.

Home for the night, we both enjoyed a hot bubble bath and then a wander around the town.
