The beginning of the walk was flat, first along the Montgomery canal (dissused since the 1940s), we passed three Swan families.
Thank goodness that we didn’t have to raise it.
There was much flat walking through fields and a good part along the actual Offa’s Dyke.
Deb said the Welsh must have been really short for this dyke to keep them out.
The day ended with a very steep climb and we were thankful for the slackpacking and only sharing one backpack.
What kind of a contraption is this in the middle of the field?
We are staying at a charming B&B with lovely gardens and cake.
I think the highlight of the day was passing cakes for sale at a stand, date and walnut did the trick.
Surprisingly there are not as many walkers as we were expecting and today we passed 11 men walkers throughout the whole day. I thought one asked a few too many questions but Deb explained that he was just being friendly! Hmmmm
We are very tired and looking forward to a good nights sleep. Last night in the pub on a main road was very loud. It seems peaceful tonight.
The walk today.
And when my parents did it.
